“Tripura- the three cities of Maya” is 78 min mythological epic for the small screen.
Produced in association with Amar Chita Katha and Turner Entertainment Networks, Asia, the film premiered on Cartoon Network on 30th January 2011.
Tripura is a story of Destruction, a destruction of the material or gross ambitions as represented by powerful cities of the asura clan.These are destroyed by Shiva at the end of the mighty adventure in a ironic twist that the cities are designed and created by a great asura devotee of Shiva, the sorcerer and architect Mayasur or just Maya.
Maya is the main protagonist along with his wards the three orphaned asura princes he raises to be model kings for the asura civilization. But the ambition and ego of the brothers cannot be held back and they turn antagonistic to him after they have attained power and prosperity. They turn their back on the values inculcated by Maya and prefer to go back to warlike ways to assert themselves. The devas who are the guardians of the universe by virtue of their dedication to service have to fight a massive battle to keep them in check.

Its 2016 now almost 5 years over for this film, I have seen this movie on CN but now I am very eager just to see it again so I googled ‘Tripura:The three cities of Maya’ and saw that there was no movie, of course it is a paid movie so I searched for it on youtube and then I searched for CDs and I found NOTHING but it’s trailer. I would like to request you that if you are not making it’s CDs please try understanding our feelings and just release it online. Why would you like to keep us waiting this long, have you lost that movie or hard drive in which it was kept got corrupt? overall and in conclusion I would like to say that I’m a very big fan of this movie, creators and all at backstage artists, very well done and keep it up! and also ONCE AGAIN please make this movie either online or in CD, paid or free but please release this movie ONCE AGAIN! Unfortunately, we still don’t have good news. ‘Tripura’ was a labour of love for us and we are very proud of it. The reason it is not available on any platform or in retail is that Turner and ACK co- own the rights and sadly, there is no agreement on its distribution. It still airs every now and then, but with no warning. We are still working behind the scenes to bring the movie to you at some point. Thank you for all your support and love. We are really encouraged by all your passion for this film. It tells us the struggle to make it was totally worth it! Har Har Mahadev!
Dunno how long we have to wait for this movie to come out on DVD…. Or on any other format…. Never before have I waited for a movie this long… Though I have watched it on cartoon Network when it was first aired but I have been waiting for it ever since….. Since 2011 to be exact….
